The NCGA Foundation held its fifth annual Pro-Am on Friday, August 17, 2007 at Spyglass Hill in Pebble Beach, raising more than $120,000 to support youth life skills and values education in Northern California. Proceeds from the event will help provide the resources for grant funding and the Foundation’s pioneering Youth on Course program.
This year’s Pro-Am featured 20 teams of four amateurs, each paired with an area pro. The Pro-Am has a modified scramble format in which each team selects the best drive of all five members. Each individual then plays his or her own ball from there through the completion of the hole. The team sponsored by the Lisa and Douglas Goldman fund (above) fired an eight-under-par 64 to take home the top prize by capturing the gross competition. The John and Marcia Goldman Philanthropic Fund finished in first place in the net division, shooting a 19-under-par 53.

Fresh off his appearance in the PGA Championship, Bob McGrath of San Jose Municipal GC won the professional division of the event with an even par 72. Prior to the tournament participants had the opportunity to demo clubs from TaylorMade and Nike Golf. TaylorMade also brought their Tour Tech Van, enabling participants to be fitted for clubs like the tour pros.
Next year's Pro-Am will be held on Friday, August 15 and is sure to be bigger and better than ever.
