Job Title: Youth on Course Intern

  • Location: Poppy Hills Golf Course/NCGA Headquarters, Pebble Beach, CA
  • Term: Seasonal

SUMMARY

The Youth on Course Internship program is designed to give high school students the opportunity to gain exposure and experience in the golf industry at top facilities. Interns will rotate through bi-weekly modules which cover all aspects of the facility’s operations including:

  • Golf Shop Operations
  • Outside Services
  • Golf Course Maintenance
  • Food and Beverage operations
  • NCGA Foundation administration

Interns will learn the basics of each module and will be expected to perform duties and tasks as assigned to them. No experience is necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform satisfactorily; with strong communication and interpersonal skills and an emphasis on customer service.  A strong team player attitude plus a strong attention to detail is essential. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and /or ability required. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Interns must be between 16 and 18 years old.

EDUCATION

Each intern must be currently enrolled in an accredited high school. Graduating seniors are eligible to apply. Interns under 18 years old must have a work permit.

DRIVERS LICENSE

Each intern must posses a valid California driver’s license.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with guests, management, vendors/suppliers, the general public and other employees of the Company.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the essential functions of this internship, the interns will be both indoors and outdoors, in an uncontrolled environment, on uneven ground, and experiencing a moderate to high noise level in the work environment. Interns will be required to sit for long periods of time while working indoors and may be required to frequently stand or walk on uneven ground while working outdoors. The employee is frequently required to bend, stoop and twist.

COMPUTER AND MEDIA SKILLS

Computer knowledge helpful – Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Interns will be required to document their internship through written reports, blogs, photographs and other media forms.

COMPENSATION

$8.00/hr

WORK HOURS

Six to Eight Hours a day on non-school days, up to 4 hours a day on any school day for 20 to 30 hours a week.
